Arizona Coyotes at Calgary Flames [Game 39]

Published

on

2016 finally comes to a close tonight, but not before the Flames take the ice for one last game. Their opponents tonight will be the 29th place Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes are about as bad of a team that could be put on ice, ranking last in nearly all possession metrics. Just about the only thing that excels for them is the goaltending.

Brian Elliott is back in net tonight after Chad Johnson performed less than amicably in the Flames most recent loss. Glen Gulutzan seems to think that Elliott is starting to put it together and stated earlier today that he’s building up confidence. He’ll go against Louis Domingue for the Coyotes.

The lineup tonight is the same which means that the Flames will be without Dougie Hamilton Hamilton is back in, yay! It’s still bewildering that they don’t separate T.J. Brodie and Dennis Wideman when they’ve been one of the worst defensive tandems in the N.H.L. While the Flames are doing better than expected, Gulutzan’s evaluation of the defense has been nothing short of abhorrent and partnering Brodie with Wideman has turned a top-pairing defender into a replacement level one.

With all that being said, it's the Coyotes so they should still be heavily favoured in this game. Will they roll with the odds in the last game of the year or will the Coyotes pull off the upset? Go Flames Go!
