Hunter Shinkaruk Recalled

With Kris Versteeg out week to week with a groin injury the Flames have recalled LW Hunter Shinkaruk from the AHL’s Stockton Heat. Shinkaruk is second on the Heat in scoring with 8 points (4g, 4a). Kris Versteeg has been placed on the Injured Reserve so even if this injury turns out to be nothing, and it isn’t, the earliest he could return is next Saturday when the Flames host the New York Rangers.

Training camp battles left many fans feeling that the rookie on the team would be either Tkachuk or Shinkaruk and now both are here. Shinkaruk will likely slot in for tomorrow’s game against the Anaheim Ducks. He has a career stat line of 3 points (2g, 1a) in 7 games.

Shinkaruk came in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks in late February last season straight across for Markus Granlund.
