Calgary Flames at Boston Bruins (Game 23)

Does Khudobin in net bode well?

The Calgary Flames have been considerably better as of late. They head to Boston to take on the Bruins tonight. Tuukka Rask is out tonight in favour of Anton Khudobin making this one considerably more winnable.

Mark Jankowski has been recalled, but won’t play despite being only a stone’s throw from where he played collegiately. Why he can’t displace the likes of Alex Chiasson, Garnet Hathaway, or Freddie Hamilton is a mystery and it seems cruel to have recalled him, have him be this close, and not get the start. Maybe they consider him a long-term option if Kris Versteeg is out long-term or if Sean Monahan continues to play scratch-worthy hockey.

Speaking of Versteeg, he’s a half-time decision. The lineups look like they’ll remain the same unless Versteeg can’t go. If he can’t, expect Hunter Shinkaruk to take his place.

Chad Johnson gets the start tonight which isn’t surprising. Johnson has arguably been a top ten goalie in the league while Brian Elliott has seen some abhorrent play. Johnson also has the history of playing for the Bruins, so there’s the bit of novelty there.
