Since we last checked in with the Adirondack Thunder, the team has 5 wins, 1 regulation loss, 1 overtime loss and 1 shootout loss. Their overall record now stands at 7-1-1-1 and they are on top of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Thunder took two of the three games against the Manchester Monarchs to open the season and followed that series up by taking two of the three games against the Elmira Jackals. They most recently took another two out of three games against the Monarchs again and just last night beat the Idaho Steelheads by a score of 6-3.
It seems weird to not see a Thunder player in the top 30 since the team is doing so well, but that’s because they are getting scoring from everybody on the team. Leading the scoring is forward Matt Bailey with 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points in just 6 games, followed by Ty Loney with 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points in 10 games.
The goaltending has been brilliant so far from both goalies. Ken Appleby has 3 wins and 1 shootout loss so far with a goals against average of just 1.71 and a 0.919 save percentage. Calgary Flames prospect Mason McDonald has 4 wins, 1 loss and 1 overtime loss so far with a goals against average of 2.61 and a 0.867 save percentage.
The Thunder’s next game is Friday night when they once again take on the Idaho Steelheads at Centurylink Arena in Boise, Idaho.
