The Flames continued to reduce their camp numbers today by sending four players to the Stockton Heat. The camp roster now sits at 28 with 2 goalies, 9 defencemen, and 17 forwards. Final NHL rosters can max out at 23 players and that number must be reached by the beginning of the season.
The four players sent to Stockton were:
- RW Garnet Hathaway
- G David Rittich
- LW Hunter Shinkaruk
- D Tyler Wotherspoon
It’s somewhat surprising for me to see Shinkaruk sent down but I’d expect him to be one of the first callups onto the team if an injury arises. As for Wotherspoon, I’m guessing the Flames didn’t want to have him stay as a 7th defenceman, but that’s just a guess.
Final cuts should be released over the next few days. What do you think of these cuts? Let us know!
