A crazy week in Stockton where the losing team in both games scored 5 goals

It’s a day early, but Happy Halloween to all Flames and Heat fans as we begin another Stockton Sunday post here at Matchsticks and Gasoline. It was certainly a scary week for AHL goaltenders as the information below will show.

Last Week’s Games:

Wednesday: Stockton Heat 7 @ San Diego Gulls (Anaheim) 5

It was a wild night in Stockton’s first road game of the season as the Heat scored 7 goals on 28 shots in the game. Leading the way was Morgan Klimchuk with 2 goals and 2 assists, and Daniel Pribyl with 1 goal and 3 assists. Both set Stockton records with a 4 point game. Garnet Hathaway, Hunter Shinkaruk, Andrew Mangiapane, and Ryan Lomberg also scored for the Heat. Jon Gillies made 32 saves on 37 shots for the win.

Friday: Stockton Heat 5 @ Tuscon Roadrunners (Arizona) 6

The Heat jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead just over 5 minutes into the game but were unable to hold on as the Roadrunners came back and eventually scored the winner with 3:10 to go in the third. Garnet Hathaway, Mike Angelidis, Linden Vey, Mark Jankowski, and Morgan Klimchuk all scored for Stockton while Rasmus Andersson recorded 3 assists. Gillies took the loss, allowing 6 goals on 33 shots. The Heat get a chance at revenge tonight against Tuscon.

Stockton now sits at 3-1-1 on the season, tied for 1st in points in the division but sitting second in winning percentage which is how the standings are ranked. Stockton can reclaim 1st in the division with a win tonight over Tuscon.
