Calgary Flames

Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames [Game 1]

The long wait is finally over. The preseason is gone and NHL hockey is finally here. Players tried out, the rosters have been set, and pucks are finally dropping across the league.

For fans of the Calgary Flames, the wait for hockey 2as longer than they would have liked. The team traded a first and second round pick for Travis Hamonic last off-season, a move that was supposed to cement them into the playoffs. Instead, the bottom two pairings were mediocre at best, the bottom six forwards got their teeth kicked in, goaltending depth was lacklustre, and the Flames missed the playoffs entirely.

As a result, the roster has been overhauled, the coach was displaced, and Brad Treliving may find himself on the hotseat if they miss again this year. Will the Flames rebound and make the playoffs? Can they be good enough to capture home ice? All these questions will be answered as we go along.

It all starts tonight against the Vancouver Canucks at 8:00 P.M. M.S.T. Welcome to the ride!
