Thunder Thursday: Mason McDonald Helps Thunder Off to a 2-0 Start

Calgary Flames Goalie prospect Mason McDonald won back to back games to start the ECHL season.

The Adirondack Thunder swept the Manchester Monarchs in their opening two games on Friday and Saturday by scores of 4-3 and 5-3 respectively.

Friday’s game required a shootout and James Henry’s 4th round shootout goal and Greg Wolfe’s 2 points lifted the Thunder to an opening night victory to start the season. Calgary Flames prospect Mason McDonald stopped 24 of 27 shots to collect the win.

On Saturday, Captain Peter MacArthur scored 1 goal and 2 assists to lead the Thunder to a win and a 2-0 start to the season. Mikkel Aagaard also had 3 points while Phil Lane and Ty Loney each had 2 points and Flames prospect Mason McDonald stopped 16 of 19 shots for his 2nd straight win of the season.

Ty Loney was named the Thermal Associates Player of the Week with his 3 points in 2 games highlighted by a 2-goal performance on Saturday night.

The Thunder’s next game is this Saturday when they once again take on the Monarchs in the Thunder Home Opener. Puck drop is 7pm from the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, New York.
