Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames [Game 2]

Didn't succeed in game one. Trying again.

The Calgary Flames effort in game one was decent, but a few lackluster performances destroyed their chances at victory. They’ll try again, this time at the Scotiabank Saddledome to try and even the series against their arch-rivals in the Edmonton Oilers. Hopefully the second time is a charm.

One of the biggest flaws in the lineup last game was Nicklas Grossmann. He gets the much-warranted scratch in favour of Jyrki Jokipakka. Jokipakka will be paired up with Dougie Hamilton as the defensive pairings return to some semblance of normalcy. This also means that the stalwart tandem of T.J. Brodie and Mark Giordano will be reunited while Deryk Engelland will team up with Dennis Wideman in a tandem that looks rather ugly, but can hopefully be serviceable as a third pair.

Brian Elliott had an ugly first game as a Flame. He’ll need to do better if Calgary hopes to take home the W. He goes up against Cam Talbot in net tonight.

Don't forget to check out The Copper & Blue for the takes on the Oilers side. GFG!
