It came in the third period, in a game the Colorado Avalanche were already winning 3-1. 13:02 to be exact. Jarome Iginla drove to the net, attempted a pass across the crease and instead the puck banked off of King’s defenceman Jake Muzzin and into the goal. I doubt this is how Iginla imagined #600 coming, but it didn’t matter. Jarome Iginla finally scored his 600th career NHL goal after being stuck on 599 for 3 straight games. The Kings now own the distinction of giving up #600, something the Flames successfully avoided on Saturday night during their 4-0 shutout win at the Pepsi Center. The span between Iginla’s first goal and #600 was 19+ years. Iginla’s first goal made it into the scorebook on October 5, 1996 in his first game ever with the Calgary Flames, it just so happened to be in the playoffs. Iginla is now in 19th place all time and his next goal will tie him with Jari Kurri, but more significant than that, his next tally puts him 24 goals away from tying his current GM Joe Sakic for 15th place all time. It’s not a matter IF he will, it’s a matter of when. Here’s a look at Jarome Iginla’s 600th goal and his career totals to date:

Jarome Iginla Career Goals Scored
Calgary Flames (1996-2013) 525
Pittsburgh Penguins (2013) 5
Boston Bruins (2013-2014) 30
Colorado Avalanche (2014-current) 40
