Gamethread: Calgary Flames Visit Carolina Hurricanes

Looking for their second win on the road trip, the Calgary Flames visit the Carolina Hurricanes tonight in an early tilt.

During this 4th of 5 stops on the roadie, the Flames face the Hurricanes for the first time this season. With almost identical records so far this year, the Flames (21-21-3) will have to dig deep to find the momentum to overcome the Canes (21-20-8).

Lance Bouma had made a big impact this season for the Calgary Flames and has been activated from the injured list. Without him, the atmosphere just isn’t the same. This weekend, Bob Hartley announced that Lance will most likely return during this road trip after having his leg cut open on ice during the game against the Florida Panthers on January 13th.

Lance returned from a broken fibula and had played only 5 games before being injured again. Here's hoping we can keep in the lineup for a while longer this time.

Michael Ferland, on the other hand, has been added to the IR list because of an upper body injury during the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He will not be in the lineup tonight against Carolina.

Ferland's move to the IR postpones the inevitable decision that the Flames will have to make about who will be sent down to the AHL. For now, everyone stays where they are.

Ferland had been getting comfortable lately on the first line with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. He’s earned 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 5 games while also tallying 19 hits. His confidence on ice keeps progressing and Hartley seems to be rewarding him for that progress. Hopefully he can heal up soon
