The Calgary Flames were going to make everyone very happy with their 15th pick when they would select Jeremy Roy, but the Boston Bruins decided to put a damper on those plans and make everybody extremely happy by trading Dougie Hamilton for that pick along with two second round picks. The exciting first round that everyone was looking forward to now looks quite boring for Calgary, but it seems pretty evident that everyone will accept that. There's still a chance the Flames could move back into the first round, but those seem rather slim now.
Other moves were made today as the Bruins also decided to ship out Milan Lucic to the Kings for their first round pick meaning that Boston will pick 13th, 14th, and 15th in the draft. The Buffalo Sabres traded the New York Islanders first round pick (21st overall) to the Ottawa Senators for David Legwand and Robin Lehner.
