Miss the Flames? Of course you do. But they'll be back before you know it!

There are still a lot of hockey things to be done. The draft, buyouts, free agency of both the restricted and unrestricted kinds, prospect camps, training camps… Lots of stuff. Wait, what was that last bit?

Training camps are when you know the season is about to start. Training camps are when you get to see actual hockey again. Because a big part of them? Pre-season.

The Calgary Flames have announced their 2015-16 pre-season schedule, letting us all know when we’ll get to see the Flames take to the ice once again. Here it is:

Date Time (MT) Opponent Where
Mon., Sept. 21 7 PM Edmonton Oilers Scotiabank Saddledome
Mon., Sept. 21 7 PM Edmonton Oilers Rexall Place
Thurs., Sept. 24 7 PM Colorado Avalanche Pepsi Center
Fri., Sept. 25 7 PM Vancouver Canucks Scotiabank Saddledome
Sat., Sept. 26 8 PM Vancouver Canucks Rogers Arena
Tues., Sept 29 7 PM Colorado Avalanche Scotiabank Saddledome
Thurs., Oct. 1 6 PM Winnipeg Jets MTS Centre
Sat., Oct. 3 7 PM Winnipeg Jets Scotiabank Saddledome

Four teams, three of which are in western Canada and one still relatively nearby. All in the teams' NHL arenas, so no special trips for them this year.

We open with a split squad game against the Oilers, as is tradition. Of course, continuing in that tradition, it would be far too much to ask them to stagger the starts so fans could watch both games, but hey, why should they start now?

This is an easy schedule to remember, though, and with most of the games taking place in the mountain time zone, most are 7 PM starts. That should be workable for just about everyone.

Rejoice, for the first part of our 2015-16 schedule is now out – and the regular season should follow soon! In the meantime, circle September 21 on your calendars, because that's when the Flames are officially back.
