Flames at Ducks [Stanley Cup Conference Semifinals – Game 1 Thread]

Round one is done, round two is new as the Flames travel to Anaheim to take on the Ducks at the Honda Center. From the looks of things on line the Flames appear to be traveling well as plenty of Flames fans are posting their pictures from outside of the stadium. This isn’t necessarily the most surprising thing in the world – tickets on Stub Hub were going for 28 dollars for tonight’s game and 70 for game two which meant it only cost an additional $110 dollars extra to see both games in Anaheim versus seeing both games in Calgary.

The Ducks were very, very good this year and are a much greater threat to the Flames than the Canucks were. Just about every line and every defensive pairing is better than Vancouver’s. Their goaltending is a bit suspect, but Vancouver didn’t exactly light the world on fire either.

The Flames top line will have to step up if they have any chance in this series. Their defense isn’t exactly impenetrable and zone entries will be key. Of course their own defense is also going to have to step it up, particularly Deryk Engelland and Tyler Wotherspoon who have been rather poor.
