Sven Baertschi and Markus Granlund sent down

I guess Glencross is close to returning and the potent offense of Brandon Bollig did the youngsters in this time…

Just a quick update since it broke about about an hour ago.

Sven Baertschi and Markus Granlund are heading back to Adirondack. Which means that Curtis Glencross is probably returning very soon. Which is good and bad. Good because maybe he can play well and show off what he can do so Brad Treliving can deal him at the deadline.

Bad because let’s face it, the call-ups were basically a waste of time for David Wolf despite his strong game and subsequent injury. A waste of time for Sven considering he played all of one game, got an assist, and had a pretty good game, and Granlund replacing Wolf is what it is.

As we’ve said in the past, it would have made sense having guys like Devin Setoguchi, Brian McGrattan, and the sort come up over the kids who could benefit from as much playing time as possible. The positives that come from both of them getting playing time in the AHL are very apparent.

In ten games this season in the AHL, Granlund has four goals and four assists. Baertschi who has had some more time finding chemistry with Bill Arnold and Emile Poirier has five goals and 12 assists in 27GP. The Flames take on the Penguins at home tomorrow night to close out the six game home-stand. Adirondack takes on Utica tomorrow as part of a back to back home-series against the Comets at 7:00 PM EST.
