GameThread: Calgary Flames at Columbus Blue Jackets

New, comments

Despite opening their season with a gruelling six game road trip, the Flames are off to a pretty decent 3-2 start. We're in the final stretch now, as the Flames take on the Blue Jackets for their penultimate road trip battle.

We're in our first eastern time game of the season. 5 p.m. MT! With some pretty noticeable lineup changes for the Flames:

Calgary Flames
Left Wing Center Right Wing
Jiri Hudler Sean Monahan Josh Jooris
Curtis Glencross Mikael Backlund Paul Byron
Lance Bouma Joe Colborne Mason Raymond
Brandon Bollig Matt Stajan Brian McGrattan
Left Defense Right Defense
Mark Giordano TJ Brodie
Ladislav Smid Dennis Wideman
Kris Russell Rafa Diaz
Goalies
Karri Ramo
Jonas Hiller
Reserves
Johnny Gaudreau Devin Setoguchi Deryk Engelland

Columbus Blue Jackets
Left Wing Center Right Wing
Nick Foligno Ryan Johansen Cam Atkinson
Scott Hartnell Artem Anisimov Alexander Wennberg
Matt Calvert Mark Letestu Jack Skille
Corey Tropp Michael Chaput Jared Boll
Left Defense Right Defense
Jack Johnson David Savard
Tim Erixon James Wisniewski
Fedor Tyutin Dalton Prout
Goalies
Sergei Bobrovsky
Curtis McElhinney

Jooris gets his first NHL game, and he's been placed with two good, offensive Flames players who work well together - which is apparently too much to ask for Gaudreau, who, after little ice time and little powerplay time in particular, is a healthy scratch. Bouma draws back in from his injury, replacing a poorly performing Setoguchi. Stajan is as unfree as ever. And, of course, our goalies continue switching it up, which has been awesome to date, so why mess with it, right?

And, as always: fuck Tim Erixon.
