Report: Kiprusoff to Stay in Calgary

Published

on

After speculation that Miikka Kiprusoff might accept a trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Roger Millions has reported that, in accordance with reports issued last week, he has decided not to accept a trade to a new team. His no-movement clause expired last summer.

Kiprusoff has one year left on his contract at $1.5M, but many think he will decide to retire in the off-season. If allegations put forth by former head coach Mike Keenan that an agreement existed between Kiprusoff and management which stipulated that he would indeed hang up his skates prior to the final season of his six-year, $35M contract, the Flames could face some sort of punishment from the league for circumventing the salary cap.
