After a last-minute overtime win that might even be described as "clutch" under different circumstances, the Flames take a trip up Highway 2 to take on the Edmonton Oilers in the last Battle of Alberta of the season.
Neither team will likely be headed for the playoffs this spring, but a win by the Flames would even further crush the hopes and dreams of any naive Edmontonians (or transplanted Edmontonians for that matter because let's get real, Edmonton sucks).
With their depleted roster half composed of AHL players and missing two more regulars for tonight's contest (Curtis Glencross is out with the flu and Alex Tanguay is down for the count with a sprained MCL after a collision with Kyle Chipchura last night), the Flames are playing for nothing more than a draft pick and schadenfreude for the final eight games of the season.
Ben Street and Akim Aliu join the team tonight as Ben Hanowski is expected to arrive in Calgary as early as tomorrow.
People can cheer for the Flames to lose games all they like, but if they only win one more game this season, I'd like it to be this one.
So let's finish them.
