After igniting their offensive spark against the Dallas Stars last week, it was quickly snuffed out in Friday's loss to St. Louis after the Blues gave the Flames a taste of their own medicine, scoring four times in the first period to win the game 5-2. The Stars beat Vancouver 4-3 on Friday, a nice recovery for Dallas 'tender Richard Bachman, who will be in net again tonight against the Flames, as Kari Lehtonen has been placed on IR.
The big news with regard to the Flames' goaltending situation is that Leland Irving was sent down following the loss to the Blues, and Danny Taylor has been called back up. Taylor didn't play in a single game after being signed by the Flames the day after Miikka Kiprusoff went down with injury, and I'm not sure how much he'll get to this time around, as MacDonald got his first taste of game action with the Flames when he came in to relieve Irving on Friday night.
Oh yeah, and Blake Comeau is playing alongside Jarome Iginla, and apparently he's better than Blair Jones and Roman Horak, who is now a winger. I mean, I know the guy couldn't score in the shootout, but expecting him to in the first place was kind of ridiculous. I really wonder how Flames management evaluates/makes decisions about which players are better or more useful than others sometimes, because it rarely seems accurate.
Anyway, here are your likely lines and pairings:
