Following a series of Christmas miracles (the Flames beat the Blues? And Matt Stajan is okay!!), the Flames are ready to get right back at it and hopefully keep the warm fuzzy holiday feelings going as they take on the Edmonton Oilers.
With next to nobody to spare (just 12 healthy forwards on the roster), the Flames will be dressing the same lineup they used against the Blues. This goes for defence and goaltending as well. Reto Berra started the last Battle of Alberta, and was 10 seconds away from his first regulation win and shutout before Taylor Hall scored to extend the game to overtime. Still, you have to think he'll win in regulation at some point, and it could happen tonight.
He might be in tough, though, as the Oilers are coming off an offensive explosion, thrashing the Jets in a 6-2 win just one game after being on the opposite end of such a result. The aforementioned Hall had three points that game, and is the Oilers' leader with 33 points in 32 games.
A few injures have led to the Oilers recalling some players, including Roman Horak, who was involved in the trade for Ladislav Smid. Horak, given the number 12, will not dress tonight, though.
Here are the projected lines:
Flames:
Cammalleri - Backlund - Byron
Galiardi - Stajan - Stempniak
Hudler - Colborne - Jones
Bouma - Monahan - McGrattan
Brodie - Butler
Giordano - Smid
Breen - O'Brien
Berra
Oilers:
Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Perron
Joenssu - Gagner - Eberle
Smyth - Gordon - Hemsky
Gadzic - Lander - Yakupov
Ference - J. Schultz
N. Schultz - Potter
Belov - Petry
Dubnyk
Go Flames!
