With the Flames coming off a win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday and the Canucks fueled by a 6-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers last night, one team will not continue its winning streak tonight when the two squads meet tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome in the Flames' home opener.
The home of the Flames was also victimized by the floods that ravaged Calgary and southern Alberta, and crews worked for three months straight to make the repairs necessary to make the building operational again, and tonight's contest between two big rivals will be the first regular season game held at the newly renovated building.
The Canucks will be without forwards Jordan Schroeder and Zack Kassian, who is still serving his five-game suspension for his attack on Sam Gagner. Meanwhile, the Flames are still missing Mike Cammalleri and Matt Stajan, who suffered a nasty sounding leg contusion in the Flames' season opener. Joe Colborne will continue to sub in for him on the first line, while the rest of the lineup remains the same.
Joey MacDonald, who was in net for the Flames in Friday's win, will start again tonight, proving that Hartley is indeed going with the hot hand in goal.
