The Enemy: Jewels From the Crown
With the death knell potentially ringing on their season after last night's overtime loss to the Ducks, the Flames are at the Staples Center tonight to try and right the ship one last time against the Los Angeles Kings.
The Kings haven't been fantastic lately, with a mark of just 5-3-2 in their past ten, but it's been good enough for them to shoot into sixth place in the West--with the help of star forward Anze Kopitar, who has five goals and five assists in nine games in March. L.A. still has two games in hand on the Flames and will still hold that advantage even with a Calgary victory tonight.
Miikka Kiprusoff will be back between the pipes tonight after getting the hook in last night's contest after allowing three goals on just five shots to start the game. He'll have to re-bound in a big way tonight, backing up a tired team on the second night of a back-to-back.
The Flames know what they have to do tonight; the final forty minutes of the Anaheim game was a good place to start, but it has to be built upon tonight in a fashion uninterrupted by lapses of complacency and incompetency.
Enjoy the game everyone (as much as you can) and hope that zombie Kopitar doesn't come after any Flames player's brains in the comments. Well, except maybe Steve Staios.
