The Flames (26-21-6) will try for their seventh consecutive win tonight against the visiting L.A. Kings (28-22-2), who are steadily getting back on the winning side of things, picking up at least a point in their past six games. The Kings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in Wednesday night, with Jack Johnson scoring the game-winner late in the third period.
Prospect Lance Bouma makes his NHL debut for the Flames tonight, suiting up alongside Mikael Backlund and Tom Kostopoulos, while Steve Staios returns to the press box after playing just over four minutes at forward in Wednesday's win over the Atlanta Thrashers. Miikka Kiprusoff will start in net again for the Flames, with Jonathan Quick countering for the Kings. Both goalies have been on a roll lately, allowing just a combined 17 goals in their past five games.
With a playoff position on the line, this is as big a game as any, and the Flames should treat it as such. On a lengthy winning streak, there's always the likelihood of a burnout; hopefully Iginla and the coaching staff can keep the troops motivated.
Enjoy the game everyone and cheer on Lance Bouma in the comments. Go Flames.
