Calgary Flames

Game 31 Preview: Alternating Current

Published

on

Calgary starts the first game of their Florida back to back tonight against two teams that are on opposite ends of the spectrum-both when compared with each other and where they should be relative to last year's results.

Obviously, expectations were high for Tampa Bay this year after making it all the way to the Eastern final last year. However, a combination of injuries and a less then stellar season from newly resigned goalie Dwayne Roloson have combined to sink the team a bit in the early goings.

Obviously, Tampa’s team is still exceptionally dangerous, what with guys like Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman, but the Flames will catch a bit of a break tonight with Martin St. Louis being out of the lineup due to a facial injury.

The Lightning have been taking some flak for playing the 1-3-1, but who cares. It’s not the Lightning’s fault that other teams are unable to advance the play. If you disagree with this point then you are dumb.

If Rene Bourque’s sniffles clear up, Roman Horak will probably be the man sitting up in the press box.

Not a game the Flames should be taking lightly-then again, the Flames shouldn't be taking any game lightly.

Players To Watch

Miikka Kiprusoff-40+ saves last game, can he turn in another stellar performance?

Steven Stamkos-This should just be a given.

Lastly…

Calgary doesn't have the run-and-gun capabilities that Tampa does, so they need to keep penalties to a minimum and play this one close to the vest.
