The Flames knocked off a relatively solid win against the Avs to get back to ankle deep in the hole instead of knee deep. This slow start in the month of Oct is a larger concern than most are recognizing.

Why? The schedule in Oct, excluding the season opener against the Penguins, has been much softer than it will be in Nov with the Canucks, Red Wings, Sabres and Blackhawks all on the scorecard.

The Flames have played better than their record imo and probably should be 4-2-2 at this point but the fact is they are 3-4-1 and staring up from the basement with the Jackets and Preds.
