Calgary Flames

Oilers @ Flames – let’s get this over with

Published

on

With the Canucks fait accompli over the Avs this afternoon, the Flames final game of the year is officially meaningless.

And thank god. What a grim death march these last few weeks have become for this club. Calgary's only goal this evening will be to not get more injured.

Notes

– Congratulations to the Vancouver Canucks. It chokes me to be this gracious, but what they accomplished in taking the NW division in the final quarter of the season was pretty impressive.

– If Calgary loses by more than 3 tonight, they will enter the post season with a negative goal differential.

– The PP hasn't scored in 9 games. It's now ranked 22nd in the league. I wonder what the franchise record is for futility with the man advantage (in terms of conescutive chanes without a goal)?

– CGY 3.02 GA/G average places them 23rd in the league. Worst of any play-off club. Only lottery teams (TOR, PHX, DAL, COL, TBL, NYI, ATL) sit below them.
