Picking Canada’s Olympic Team – Open Thread

Published

on

I haven't had much to say about the coming Olympics, mainly because I consider the task of picking the team one of taste rather than strategy: you could probably construct three very capable Canadian teams with the amount of quality players available. I actually wrote a lot about the last squad at the time, but it was after the roster was chosen and the major mistakes were made – I saw the disaster coming so I had a few words on the subject. I can't imagine that happening again this year, of course.

Anyways, instead of me throwing up my list of favorites, I figure it's a good time to open the floor. Who would you take to Vancouver? Who would you leave behind? To make the project a little less redundant, let's scratch the obvious guys off the list first:

Iginla, Thornton, Heatley, Crosby, Nash, Pronger, Niedermayer.

Now fill in the blanks.
