Flames D Prospect John Ramage Makes USA World Junior Team

USA Hockey announced the final roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships today, and amongst the 22 players making the cut was Flames prospect and defenceman John Ramage. Drafted by Calgary in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL draft. 103rd overall, Ramage played for the gold medal winning Americans at last year's tournament, collecting the lone assist on John Carlson's game winner in OT. The 19-year-old skates for the University of Wisonsin.

Ryan Howse Cut from Canada's World Junior Selection Camp

The first round of Team Canada roster cuts were announced this morning twelve days before they open up the World Junior Championship against the Russians, with Flames prospect Ryan Howse amongst the nine players sent home. Howse has 22 goals and 38 points in just 29 games so far this season with the Chilliwhack Bruins of the WHL, and at 19 years of age, this was his final year of eligibility for the tournament. Canada's roster will be finalized tomorrow.

Flames Announce Roster, Schedule for Young Stars Tourney

The Flames announced their roster for the Young Stars Tournament today, which runs from September 12th-16th in Penticton, BC, shortly after the team begins training camp on the 10th. The roster will feature Flames prospects that have played less than 100 games at the NHL level and includes the likes of Mikael Backlund, Mitch Wahl, Greg Nemisz, and T.J. Brodie. Prospects will square off against fellow youngsters from the Oilers, Ducks, Sharks, and the host Canucks.

School Your Pool's Ray Irwin is a Chilliwack Bruins season ticket holder, so he sees a lot of the Flames third rounder. Howse is rapidly moving up the Flames prospect chart with his play this season.

According to Cap Geek. The Vancouver Giants Captain hast started the season well, scoring 2 goals and 7 points in his first 8 games.

Flames sign Mitch wahl

Calgary has inked Spokane Chief Mitch Wahl to a 3 year entry level deal according to Cap Geek. H/T to poster "Phaneuf" for the heads up.

Flames (finally) release prospect camp roster

Notable additions are Daniel Spence, David Shantz and Josh Meyers. Notable absences are Tim Erixon, Jon Ortio. Some thoughts on Prospect camp here. Camp starts on Tuesday and stretches till Saturday.
