The baby Flames are set to square off against their Northern counterparts in Penticton tonight (8:30PM MT) after beating the Ducks' rookie squad 8-4 yesterday, with 24-year-old Jon Rheault the obvious standout, as he scored a hat trick and added an assist for a total of four points. Scratches for tonight's game on the Flames' side include recent draftees Joey Leach, Max Reinhart, and Patrick Holland while Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Magnus Paajarvi will sit out for the Oil. The Flames have signed undrafted 21-year-old defenceman Chris Breen to an entry-level deal; the 6'7", 225 lb. blueliner spent five seasons in the OHL. Described as a stay at home defenceman, Breen scored a career-high 4 goals and 14 points this past season, splitting time between the Peterborough Petes and the Erie Otters. He also appeared in one game with the Abbotsford Heat on a try-out basis, accumulating one assist and 4 PIMS. Breen's addition likely means this will be the end of the road for one or more of the Flames' defensive prospects, with T.J. Brodie and Tim Erixon also looking to begin their pro careers sometime in the near future.
