Ones to watch

  • Oliver Kylington has not been sent to the juniors yet. This is good news, and hopefully he can get a good year of pro hockey behind him. Elsewhere on the D core, Jakub Nakladal will look to make more of an impression on the Flames org, along with Kenney Morrison and Pat Sieloff. Tyler Wotherspoon will also need a big year to stand a chance of staying around.
  • Jon Gillies is the latest in a line of potentially great Flames goaltenders. There’s high hopes for him, and hopefully his first year as a pro will be a good one.
  • In the forwards, you know the names to look for. How will Shore react to being waived? Markus Granlund will look to play his way back into Flames contention, while Hathaway will want to have a good season after being cut late from Flames camp. Bill Arnold will want a good year to show his potential as a Matt Stajan replacement, and Emile Poirier will hope to show more than he showed at camp.
  • Finally, it’s going to be interesting to see what becomes of Colton Orr, whether he’s been brought in as a hired gun or if he intends to, you know, actually play.

You can pick up a Heat season ticket for just $380US, or can get a six-game "mini-plan" deal for just $60US. $10 a game to watch the stars of the future doesn't sound too bad.
