Feaster Interview on being unable to sign Tim Erixon

Feaster discusses why Tim Erixon could not be signed. Cap issues, a concern from Erixon's camp if he would fit in the Flames D roster, a lack of desire to go to the Heat and more... Pretty much says it all for those who are interested. Sounds like Feaster did everything he could; but decide for yourself...

Fredrik Modin Announces Retirement

Jay Feaster will not be re-signing Fredrik Modin--not that many expected that--rather, Modin's ongoing back problems have closed out his NHL career.

Interesting Trade Idea - for the Oilers

I'm not sure which team would blink first on this one, but at the very least it's a well thought out idea. There's something in it for both teams and there would definitely be remorse on both sides parting with a good player. Personally, I think the Penguins would probably rather move Malkin out to Staal's wing and put Neal with Crosby and leave it at that.

Good game, Roberto.

Daymond Langkow Medically Cleared to Practice with Team

CALGARY - Daymond Langkow has been cleared to resume full-contact practice with the Calgary Flames for the first time in more than a year. The veteran centre suffered a broken bone in his neck after being hit by teammate Ian White's shot on March 21, 2010, in Minnesota. Langkow travelled with the team on its recent four-game road trip. He practised both with the team and skated with the coaching staff after practices and game-day skates, Flames acting GM Jay Feaster said in a release. There's still no timetable for a possible return to the lineup. "In as much as Daymond has not played in an NHL game in more than a full-calendar year there remains issues relative to getting him ready to return to the lineup such as conditioning, rebuilding muscle mass, readiness for game speed and game timing, et cetera," Feaster said. There had been fears Langkow's injury would be career-ending. He suffered a setback last summer trying to prepare for training camp. The 34-year-old resumed skating with teammates about two weeks ago.

Flames Get Modin for a 7th rounder

I guess we're just looking for a bit more depth. The guy is old but has been decent in the past. At least he's a UFA after this year.
