News and Notes From Penticton

Well, it was an interesting game despite the loss.  Mostly fun to watch, despite a few cringe-worthy moments.  The 5-3 final was more lopsided than the actual game was, thanks to an Oilers empty...

BOA, Prospect Camp Edition

The baby Flames are set to square off against their Northern counterparts in Penticton tonight (8:30PM MT) after beating the Ducks' rookie squad 8-4 yesterday, with 24-year-old Jon Rheault the obvious standout, as he scored a hat trick and added an assist for a total of four points. SBN's Mock Expansion Draft: The Jets & Nordiques Pick From The Scrap Heap

The rosters of SBN's two mock expansion teams have been set, with Winnipeg and Quebec City selecting 52 NHL players from the unprotected lists of the league's thirty team representatives. Of the seven players left unprotected by the Flames in this exercise, only two were selected in Cory Sarich and Tim Jackman--who were likely two of the best available on a list that included Riatis Ivanans and Steve Staios. I'm a little surprised that neither Gabe nor Mirtle took a chance on Conroy, but the reasons for Ales Kotalik not finding a mock-new home are likely the same ones that prevented the other real 29 NHL teams from picking him up on waivers, and Kronwall is really just a spare part. What do you think of the selections?
