In a break from tradition, the Calgary Flames will be kicking off their pre-season with a split squad tilt against the Vancouver Canucks. Typically it’s always been the Oilers to kick things off, but not this year.

Puck drop will be at 7:00 in Calgary, while the 2nd game kicks off at 8:00 from Victoria. The away game will be televised by the way.

As expected, Calgary will be keeping the majority of their NHL roster close to home, with Mark Jankowski and Rasmus Andersson being the only regulars from last year making the trip out West.

Arguing Zagidulin will get the start in Victoria and split duties with Tyler Parsons. David Rittich will get the start in Calgary.

Flames fans will also get the opportunity to see Milan Lucic for the first time in red, along with rookie Jakob Pelletier.

There’s not much more to say heading into these games other than I’m glad hockey is finally back but I still need Matthew Tkachuk ASAP.
