Calgary Flames vs Boston Bruins, 2 PM MT, Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary AB

Who’s ready for some Monday afternoon hockey!? The Flames will play game two of a brief home stand at 2pm this afternoon as the Boston Bruins come to town. The Flames have lost 2 of their last 3, one those thanks to the Bruins 5-2.

The Flames troubles at home continue to haunt them as their loss to the Florida Panthers set their home record at 13-14-3. That loss, combined with an Anaheim win moved the Flames out of a Wild Card spot and into 9th place. All is not lost however, as Calgary is only 1 point behind the Ducks and after the loss and they hit the road for two games after Monday’s tilt with the Bruins.

The Bruins play well at home and on the road. After a rough start to the season, Boston has been tough to beat lately. The Bruins are 12-3-0 in their last 15 and have come roaring back to get within 3 points of first place Tampa Bay. As the Flames struggle at home, Boston’s road record is the exact opposite. Despite a rough start to a western Canadian road trip, the B’s are 16-6-4 away from TD Garden.

This the only regular season visit the Bruins will make to Calgary and they’ve been fairly successful at the Saddledome. Boston is 3-2-0 in their last 5 visits and they’ve already defeated the Flames once this season, 5-2, back on February 13th.
