Calgary Flames at Colorado Avalanche [Game 5]

Published

on

The Calgary Flames are back in the Rockies, albeit much further south as they’re in Denver, Colorado to take on the Colorado Avalanche. Their last game came against the St. Louis Blues and it did not go well – the Blues were better in attempts, scoring chances, and ultimately goals as the Flames fell by a score of five to three. The loss brought the Flames back down to .500 in their small four game sample size.

Anthony Peluso will return to the bench tonight and he’ll be replaced by Garnet Hathaway. Michael Frolik also gets a day off – he’s getting switched out with Mark Jankowski. There will also be a goaltending change as David Rittich gets his first start of the season. It’s been a limited sample size, but Mike Smith is currently negative in dSV% meaning he’s been below replacement level.

The Avalanche have a bit of fire power, but don’t project to be a huge puck possession team. Much like the Flames, they’re looking to creep back into the playoffs after missing out last year. Will the Flames prevail?
