Calgary Flames

Thank you, Sean Monahan

The young center carried the Flames in the playoffs

Sean Monahan played like a veteran in the Flames first round elimination to the Anaheim Ducks. The center, only 22 years old, scored a goal in every game played and collected an assist. His five points in the post season lead all other players on the Flames roster and matched the post-season point leader for the Ducks, Ryan Getzlaf.

Monahan scored in the first period of two games, which would seem to motivate other players to get on the board early in the games, but this did not happen. Monahan was the only Flames player who truly showed gusto and determination in the first round.

The first round pick from Ontario gives Flames fans an optimistic idea of the future to come. In his 4 seasons in the NHL, Monahan has been extremely consistant in averaging over 20 goals a season, as well as three seasons with over 30 assists. The Flames should expect a lot more to come from Monahan, and hopefully leading them into a deep playoff run in the near future.
