The Flames and contract negotiations between it’s two star players, Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, have continued to drag out over the summer. Both the teams and players have kept any negotiating talk close to the vest, but both players have repeated their desire to stay in Calgary.

Gaudreau and Monahan are scheduled to play in the WCOH with Team North America and today Sportsnet is reporting that contract or no contract, Johnny Gaudreau is going to Toronto, but he won’t be negotiating while he’s there:

The fact that both contracts have gone this far into the summer without being settled is slightly unnerving, but there is still plenty of time before the season starts. Gaudreau just finished a 3 year deal that paid him $5.5 million over the life of that contract. The 23 year old forward led the Flames in points last season with 78 points in 79 games.
