Flames Sign Matthew Tkachuk to ELC

The Flames wasted no time in signing their top prospect from the 2016 Draft

The Flames signed 6th overall pick Matthew Tkachuk to a 3 year entry level contract with an average cap hit of 0.925M on Thursday. This gives the Flames the opportunity to chose to use him in this upcoming season or send him back to the OHL if they chose not to. Tkachuk had 107 points in 57 games last season in the OHL with the London Knights.

The Flames wasted no time after the conclusion of their summer development camp to sign Tkachuk. Tkachuk can play 9 games this season without burning a year off of his ELC. Whether or not Tkachuk makes the roster is up to the Flames and him. The contract currently runs through the 2018-19 season and can slide up to two years to 2021 if he doesn't meet the 10 game threshold over the next 2 seasons.

Tell us what you think the Flames should do with Tkachuk next season.
