This girl is on fire, all right.

Rookie forward Elana Lovell tallied a hat trick and the Inferno had a couple of hiccups, but ultimately rolled to a 9-5 win over the Toronto Furies at Winsport Saturday night.

Calgary's offense put nine past Christina Kessler and Olivia Ross, but the Inferno also allowed their highest number of shots against so far this season as Delayne Brian surrendered five goals, including three in the third period. Natalie Spooner scored twice, including the game-opening goal 2:22 into the first period.

However, Lovell and the Inferno were able to regroup and take advantages of numerous chances, including three on the power play (which was kept busy throughout the game). Aside from Lovell's three, Hayleigh Cudmore scored a goal and an assist, Jill Saulnier, Louise Warren, Blayre Turnbull, Brittany Esposito and Bailey Bram each got into the goal column, and Hayley Wickenheiser earned a pair of helpers, further proving the case for why eight Inferno players are on the roster for the All-Star Game in January (more on that to come).

The Furies managed to keep things interesting, capitalizing on a couple of weird bounces and rebounds by Brian on scrums in front of the net. Ashton Hogan, Kori Cheverie and Kelly Terry each got on the board for the Furies.

Still, by that point the damage was done, and the Inferno earned their tenth win of the season. They maintain the best record in the league at 10-1-0 and 20 points (and are the first team to do so). This win could have come a bit easier had they kept Toronto away from the front of Brian's net late in the game, but a win is a win, and they can do it again Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is at 12:30 p.m. MST (2:30 EST). The game will be streamed via CWHL Live (click link for further details).

Brampton 5, Boston 2: The Thunder outshot the Blades by a 2:1 margin in their 5-2 rout at home, including 22-4 in the opening frame. Genevieve Lacasse continued to withstand a hefty workload, finishing with 45 saves, but allowed five goals by five different Brampton players (Jenna McParland, Laura Fortino, Rebecca Vint, Jess Jones, and Jamie Lee Rattray). Kristina Brown and Maggie DiMasi beat Erica Howe to keep the game from being a shutout.
