And finally: Flames vs Winnipeg Jets pre-season preview

Game eight of eight, the last one that doesn't mean very much.

All this pre-season hockey is all well and good, but it's about time the games started meaning something, don't you think?

Luckily, that's almost the point we've reached. Tonight is the last game of the pre-season, and by the end of it, we should have some idea of what the team will look like on Wednesday night against Vancouver.

Who has Bob Hartley settled on?

Calgary Flames Projected Lines
Left Wing Center Right Wing
Johnny Gaudreau Sean Monahan Jiri Hudler
Lance Bouma Mikael Backlund Michael Frolik
Micheal Ferland Sam Bennett Josh Jooris
Brandon Bollig Matt Stajan David Jones
Left Defence Right Defence
Mark Giordano Dougie Hamilton
Kris Russell Dennis Wideman
Brett Kulak Deryk Engelland
Goalies
Karri Ramo Jonas Hiller

Ones To Watch

  • In goal, Hartley has both Ramo and Hiller dressed, with Ramo starting. Expect to see a lot of him tonight, if not the entire game.
  • At the back end, it seems like Kulak is the man chosen to partner Engelland, or at least Hartley is having another look at him. He called it a playoff game for Kulak, so we can probably expect big minutes from him – it’s his last chance to impress. Kulak doesn’t require waivers, so he’s easy to cut; on the other hand, so is Ryan Wilson, on a PTO and isn’t playing tonight is another easy cut to make.
  • Ladislav Smid is only cleared to practice – not to play – so don’t expect him at all.
  • As for forwards, the players look pretty set as guys who should all make the Flames. Mason Raymond and Markus Granlund are not expected to dress tonight. Neither is Paul Byron, who was not a part of the main morning skate group.

The game is live again on TSN3, but it will be blacked out in Alberta. However, Centre Ice free preview in effect, so be sure to check your television listings – you should be able to se it that way. If not, Sportsnet 960 The Fan will have the call. Join us in the gamethread!
