6’2″, 180 lb. defenseman Brandon Hickey goes 64th off the board to the Flames.

Hickey, a native of Leduc, Alberta, was born on April 13th, 1996. He has spent the last three seasons with the Spruce Grove Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 106 contests, he has scored five times with 24 assists.

2013-14: Hickey skated in 49 of 60 regular season games for Spruce Grove in his second season with the Saints and played for Canada West in the 2013 U19 World Junior A Challenge. He scored 4 goals with 12 assists and 22 penalty minutes during the AJHL regular season. The Saints finished first in the North Division and advanced to the Western Canada Cup after winning the AJHL playoff title. Hickey had 5 assists and 4 penalty minutes in 13 playoff games. He had 1 assist and 2 penalty minutes in four games at the WJAC as Canada West captured a bronze medal. In January he committed to playing college hockey at Boston University in 2014-15. Hickey was ranked 63rd amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings prior to the 2014 NHL Draft.
