After Miikka Kiprusoff (day-to-day, lower body) was injured in the Flames‘ 4-1 win over Detroit last night, the team has signed 26-year-old Abbotsford Heat goalie Danny Taylor to a Standard Player’s Contract. Taylor is 13-9-1 with the Heat so far this season and has two shutouts, with a .930 SV% and a 1.77 GAA.

He was in net last night when the Heat earned a 3-2 victory over the Rochester Americans, stopping 17 shots for the victory.

Taylor was drafted in the seventh round by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2004 NHL entry draft, and appeared in one game for the Kings in 2007-08. Since then he has bounced around the ECHL, the AHL, and even the Deutschen Eishockey Liga in Germany. Taylor appeared in 33 games with the Abbotsford Heat last season in which he went 17-10-3 with a .927 SV% and five shutouts in the regular season and 4-3-0 in seven playoff games with the Heat.

Taylor's contract is a two-way deal that spans one year at $525,000.
