NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft Open Thread
GOOOOOOOD EVENING.
With Calgary's best player leading goals/game scorer MVP points leader and all-around cool dude Jarome Iginla representing the best Albertan city in Ottawa tonight, I thought an open thread would be warranted.
Just think- Jarome Iginla could be taken first overall- or he could be taken last overall. THE DRAMA. More after the jump.
Admittedly, I've always loved this event. I know it's a "meaningless game" (though that's a hilarious statement in and of itself, since all hockey is meaningless) and overblown, but I've always enjoyed seeing some of the best players gathered together for an event.
Even better, the Fantasy Draft has added actual intrigue to the proceedings as a whole (which team will score 9 as opposed to 8 isn't exactly the greatest drama). From Alex Ovechkin photographing Phil Kessel sitting alone to the drama of brothers staying together or splitting up- it's fascinating. It's a little bit political, a little bit goofy, and a lot entertaining.
So without further ado, join me in mocking the existence of Alyonka Larionov as a "reporter and Instagrammer" and the presence of Nick Johnson as an All-Star.
Also, here's your song for the night:

I can’t handle it. Seeing all these clearly unintelligent women with zero intelligence get paid to tweet inane things makes me kinda nauseous.
She’s a parody of Alyonka Larionov, born of a quick joke by @ArtemChubarov (obviously not the real one)
Ahh, that makes more sense. And yes, I did know that the Twitter Artem Chubarov was not the actual Artem Chubarov.
Hey, that’s how I chose which team to root for. Going with Team Alfredsson, ’cause they are much, much prettier.
They’re severely lacking in Landeskog.
I am boobs.
