This is your thread. I will not be joining, as the toilet bowl has been calling my name for the past few hours.

good for you.
Them’s foreigners need some learning from a native english speaker on how to talk good.
Ha! Except that, with very few exceptions, my students are very upper-middle class, mostly first-generation Canadian overachievers who want to make the leap from A to A+. But yes :)
yeah, I wasn’t being serious… I know the demographic of who usually gets tutoring (did some in Math) and the reality is that the people who were getting tutoring probably should have been tutoring other people in their classes – woulda been more value to our society.
My agency does some subsidized tutoring for people who really need it. But yeah, it’s not cheap, and so it tends to be pretty high-level stuff for very wealthy families. Though I do have a couple of kids who are definitely struggling ES/AL students.
I was never that organized, just picked up some work from someone who knew some kids who needed/wanted an edge up.
It always has made me sad understanding that kids who come from families where the parents think that it’s the schools job to teach em everything probably also have a genetic pre-disposition to struggle academically a little and they won’t / can’t get a little leg up.. kind of a piling on but I don’t know what a good solution to it is.
And I should add, I resisted taking students on Tuesdays for a long time, because it’s always a hockey night. But let’s be honest, I love money more than I love the Flames ;)
There’s a reason I want to move away from Vancouver. It’s absurd how expensive it is to live in this city.
Report yesterday said that Vancouver is the second most expensive place to buy a home in the world. And I am way too old to have a roommate.
It’s really the 3 of us in here tonight. I know wi’s at the panthers/flyers game in south FL…but where’s everyone else?
"Where do you go from here, Dion?" "I go to Toronto."

Tough loss – that is the frustrating part of the Sutter D system, one breakdown and the game is lost. Oh well, whatever.
Consider contributing to Wiki if you can. It has come a long way since its inception in quality and its founders have resisted attempts to commercialize it. Lets keep it alive with a few dollars each.
I prefer a 3 or 4 goal loss to this. So frustrating to take a game like this half-way through the third and not get a single point.
Basically bad luck with Gio and Backlund falling and losing their man. If one of them had fell fine but they both fell on the same play, frustrating…

The NHL is such a joke sometime
That Ferriero goal, the puck was rebounding outside the range of his stick, he reaches up, catches it, carries it from behind his shoulder to right where his stick is, puts it down, and shoots it in.
That’s closing your hand on the puck, carrying it to where you want it. Why not just base your offense around that, if that’s allowed? You could just stand on one side of the goal, have your teammates chip the puck to your hand, you catch it, put it down, and score.
Ridiculous. Winning the game with your hand, in hockey. Absolutely ridiculous. But this has been mounting now for awhile now. Refs keep getting more lax making that call, players have figured out as long as they only close their hand on it for a second and move it quickly, they can carry it and put it wherever they want without getting a penalty. And it culminated tonight in ruining a hard fought hockey game, making a farce of the whole thing.
