Damn. I was looking forward to a quiet night at home watching the Flames get their asses kicked… then the plumbers working in the suite upstairs burst a line and couldn’t figure out how to shut it off. Now one corner of my place is fucking soaked. Goddamnit.

All around the fireplace, but I don’t expect it to work out well. I expect a clean up crew to be in my place for a few days fucking around and nothing will ever be quite right.

Hello d_p_h, I’ve been meaning to reply to your late comment from a while ago, my little savage is just turning 2. She’s actually pretty good, most of the time.
Cool, we’re going through a constant fight right now to get him to go to sleep, nap whatver… he’s tired, but he FIGHTS to stay awake… until he just passes out
Not a good example. Justin still hasn’t grown out of this. I saw him fight to stay awake at Heritage classic for ages before he passed out.
Don’t lie, we know your gut flops down over your dick and keeps it warm. I actually meant how your were fighting to stay awake at the pre-Heritage classic party. The “screaming” that evening came in the form of a horrendous Don Mclean cover.
sigh — I’ve got Eberle and Hall in my fantasy league.. sad watching Hall’s own teammate kick him in the head with a skate.

I’ve been half-heartedly hoping for long skid and top pick all season. Post-Cammi trade, I’ve decided to don my cheerleading hat and dream of the playoffs. Definitely feels strange.
Maybe it’s like life for my kid right now..
When I walk in from work - the kid smiles soooo big because he hasn’t seen me in so long he actually forgot I existed.. and that novelty of "oh yeah- you the hairy dude" is the BEST thing ever.

I’m going to say something that I think we all agree with: the Flames are not a top team. They should not be trying to win now. The Cammilleri trade was silly- even though he’s great and fun to watch. I’m not sure how people can be backing up this trade so much and saying we can re-build AND pick up 6 million dollar contracts. Kipper made this game worth watching. The Flames spend way too much money for their fans to be so sympathetic of the management.

We bring that effort against almost any other team in the West and that’s a win. San Jose is a good hockey team.

Yeah- I’ve been watching o lot of Wings games lately though and it’s definitely changed my perspective. I’m comparing the Flames to the Wings, not the previous Flames. They made a good effort and had great goaltending, but they aren’t a top team. Not close.
That’s not really the point, though. How many teams can ever say they could play with the Wings over the last decade?

Agreed- it’s a hard comparison. But we do spend more than they do. In some ways there’s no real reason we can’t be a top team. We don’t have the same set of excuses. I think we should work at getting to that level again. But this is just me post game. I’ll stop.
Tis all good bro. I’m excited with how Cam-Mickis-Iggy looked tonight, and with Gio back in the lineup…we’re a hell of a lot more solid on the backend.

No one would ever claim the Flames are a top team. But ownership/management has made it clear that a full rebuild isn’t in the cards. And I’m not convinced a full rebuild is the way to go. Do you really want Feaster at the helm for a rebuild? I mean, for every Chicago and Pittsburgh there’s an Atlanta/Winnipeg, Columbus, Long Island…
And if the organization is committed to “win now,” and we all know they are, then this was a decent deal. Bourque’s been terrible, Holland is a middling (at best!) prospect, and Feaster claims he’s reacquire the 2nd. Cammi is more money now, but for a shorter term (if a rebuild does happen down the road, this helps). Sounds like Ramo might be worth something, if he comes back to the NHL. And it makes the Flames better today.
We got a legit first line player. Enough said.

It does make the Flames better today and maybe thats all that we should look at. I certainly don’t know how to ‘re-build’ a hockey team and I agree it isn’t something that just pays off because people decide to do it. And no- I don’t think I do want Feaster at the helm for a re-build. Or King anywhere near the club. He just creeps me out. I hated the Flames Central decision and how the organization acted after the playoff run. I don’t get the Flames strategy and I haven’t liked their decision making. I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs this year and I don’t think they’ve really done anything to make making the playoffs and more likely down the road, either next year or 4 years from now. I don’t understand how fans support the trade the way they do. I’ve heard the arguments, but I don’t get it, Yet I still like watching the team. I compare it to the young guns times when I sympathized with them with the weak Canadian dollar and small market challenges. I guess I don’t know how to sympathize anymore. But god damn I am not going to cheer for the Wings. Way too easy… ummm, am I still writing? ……
Agreed we are in a tough spot, but we have some pretty solid pieces…albeit a bit older that we can shape around. We just need to have another solid couple years of drafts and things will start to look a lot better.

Oh well, good game tonight I thought (Minus the loss and that we couldn’t win a faceoff if our lives depended on it). Great intensity, Iggy and Cammy looked like there old selves, Backs had a real good game, lot’s of hard nosed play. Pity that we only got the one point out of it.
Maybe next time.
We win that game 80 percent of the time. I’ll take that effort any night.
