Come on. Dion Phaneuf? Overrated? Pfft. Yeah, right.
A poll of appromimately 1/3 of NHL Players deemed former Flame 'Double' Dion Phaneuf as the hockey's most overrated player. Apparently, the hype surrounding his booming shot that doesn't hit the net 97.3% of the time, vicious attempts to decapitate weaker opponents on open ice (therefore putting him out of position), and defensive zone awareness as nonchalant as Alexander Semin has started to rub some of his peers the wrong way. The icing on the cake may be related to envy- he's dating B-list celebrity hottie Elisha Cuthbert. Obviously, jealousy of Dion's hockey and social abilities runs rampant in professional hockey. Also of note in the article: Craig Conroy fully supports Dion as both a player and a person, which one wouldn't expect from the guy whose wife was (allegedly) defiled by the former EA Sports NHL video game cover boy. Either it didn't happen, or Dion is just THAT great of a guy!

Out of curiosity, why do you guys still talk about such a shitty player who doesn’t play for your team anymore?
You guys robbed the Leafs, be happy and quit bitching about Phaneuf.
Go BRUINS!!!
It’s fun to make fun of him.

Same reason we keep making fun of Wellwood so we understand.

Hey come over to our blog, we still make fun of Tyler Arnason, a player not even good enough for the KHL.
Steve Moore’s last act as a hockey player was beating Matt Cooke’s ass, which makes him a great great person.

Why would he be- at least the Bruins will have SOME measure of post-season success, even if that’s in the form of winning A game.
Also…they managed to get a first rounder out of Toronto for an overrated so called elite lottery pick of a player. Never forget we couldn’t squeeze any picks out of anyone for Phaneuf. But hey at least we got Matt Stajan.
"Where do you go from here, Dion?" "I go to Toronto."
Spreading that Calgary Flames, Montreal Expos, The U, and Orlando Magic love.
I don’t care, really. I just think its funny that you guys are still talking so much about Phaneuf.
BTW don’t you have to be from Massachusetts to be a “masshole”?

Somewhat related, I’ve been tracking Phaneuf on tonight’s game. Jim Hughson is absolutely in love with him, heh.
12 minutes in, he’s missed the net four times and had a shot blocked twice. In short, he still can’t get the puck through to the net. One of his blocked shots did end up in a goal on a bit of a fortuitous rebound, so he does have an assist.
I’m just going to take some time to marvel at the bastion of maturity this comments section has become. Well played, everyone.
I so badly just wanted to reply to this comment with a single word, but I won’t, because there are ladies around who probably want no part of our juvie humour.

In other news tonight
Fans of one team can not comment on a player who plays for another team. More on this story as it develops.
