A Brief Introduction
Hello everybody! I'm happy that I have the pleasure of introducing myself here after a Flames victory. My name is Hayley and I will be the new Managing Editor here at M&G. Some of your might have read my previous work at my site Join The Rush. I've been a long-time reader of this site and was thrilled when I got offered the job here. Of course I'm a little nervous about taking the reigns after Kent did such great work here, but I think it'll be a good challenge and a great experience. I'm looking forwards to getting to know all of you and am really excited about the prospect of the further growth of this site. It's going to be a bit of a learning experience and it might take me a little while to get a hang of things, so if you have any questions, concerns, advice, or criticisms don't hesitate to contact me at hazel.mutch@hotmail.com or hayley.mutch@gmail.com
I've received a very warm welcome from the SBN family and I can't wait to get started!

don’t sweat it, ladyfriend… you’ve got some good insight and you’re a great writer…. plus you’ve got an awesome team here….

Thanks Kent and WI! I might have to sharpen up my Haiku writing skills, maybe I can think up a quick one for tonight’s game.
And TLP…I’m gonna be in Boston in about a month, so you’d better watch what you say ;)
Here’s my first post-game haiku

Nystrom kicks ass
Toskala saved the day.
And thanks BReynolds! I believe the next opportunity for a Jarome Iginla hat trick is this Sunday in Minny…I look forward to it.
Welcome to the site
You’ll do fine, but remember:
five, seven, five, eh?
;)
Look forward to reading your thoughts!
Hi Hayley welcome to Matchsticks and Gasoline. If you want some of us commenters can reveal some facts about themselves so you can not only feel less conspicuous but also get to know the people! I am 21 and take geology at U of Sask but I am from CGY and yeah Thats pretty much my life story, anyone else?

Probably should have included a bit about me. I’m 18, going to SAIT for a degree in Audio Production & Broadcasting, and next year, will be venturing down to the US for more schooling.

Thanks guys, I’m happy to be here!
That’s a really good idea Rod, I’d love to know a bit about everyone here. FYI, I’m 19, lived in CGY my whole life, took communications at U of C, now taking a semester off and going to do journalism at Carleton this fall.
I’m glad you liked my previous work Justin, I’m still going to try and contribute to JTR occasionally. You and Arik are doing some awesome stuff at The 4th Line Blog, I really enjoy reading it!
Hi Hayley, nice to “meet” you. I’m in Vancouver, lived most of my life in BC (minus 2008-2009, which I spent in Quebec), so expect a lot of complaining about the ‘Nucks, their fans, and the local media from me. Currently working on a teaching degree, in the midst of my practicum at the moment so I’m both sleep-deprived and spending too much time here :D
Also, I love the haikus, to an unhealthy extent. I shall claim it’s the (future) English teacher in me, but I think that’s just an excuse!
Welcome, Hayley.
We’ll see your team in the Finals.
…. or something.

I’ll do what Rod did.
I’m 22 (tomorrow !! Kilkenny most likely if anyone is interested Friday night) attending Art school for 3D animation in San Francisco, but spent my younger years in Calgary. Today is the first day back in town in over a year!
Shameful plug for my art blog here.

I would be up for that. Although if you wanted to watch the hockey game as well, there are a couple better places then the K.

Good deal. Still waiting to chat with a few friends to figure out where would be a good place…Flames Central is likely as well, with the game first and all.

And here I was, thinking being up at 5 am was weird.

Haha…My schedule is really wonky. Plus, I’m still drinking from St. Patty’s and have my flight to Calgary in a few hours.

I’ve probably revealed most of this on my blog or Twitter or something, but here’s a condensed version:
I’m 21, a Logistics Specialist in the USCG. I did 3 years of art school before I realized that, hey, I don’t want to be an artist for the rest of my life and I don’t want to waste any more money on something I can’t support my self with (I’m a good artist, but not a career quality artist).
So now I’m paying student loans while deciding what I want a degree in. I think I’ve settled on psychology/education, I’d love to teach kids. Anyways, I’m from Colorado originally, moved to Cali, NC, VA, CA, VA, and now Boston, MA. With bootcamp in NJ somewhere along the way.
Welcome, Hayley!
Should be a heckuva race for the playoffs over these final few weeks. You picked a good time to jump aboard.
More fun than a stick to the face!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators.
Hayley, look forward to working with you.

I used to be the youngest of anyone I interacted with. Now that I’m turning 31 in May, I’m finding I have become one of the oldest.
Cheer up, you guys. Age is just a number.

You’re a pretty good writer to be an engineer eh? I’m taking Mec E at the U of A right now.
i’m in the same age bracket as resolute and maimster (and duncan, and mikeH, my hitthepost blogmates, who i will speak for cause they’re not on here enough)… i think inside i feel like i’m about 23, though, and i like to dress like i’m still in highschool. born and raised calgarian but have spent a lot of time in toronto over the years —-which is why i have a soft spot for leaf fans….

Yay!
I’ve really enjoyed reading Join the Rush! Are you going to continue blogging there as well?
Yay!
New to M&G but really enjoying it so far. Too new to welcome Hayley, but thought I’d introduce myself.

Nope. I write about whatever has my interest that day. I definitely jump all over the NFL during the season, like to write about European soccer and of course hockey. That said, most of my hockey focus has been on the Flames, mainly because that’s who I care about the most. That said, still trying to find my writing niche, so to speak.
By the way, thanks for your comment about the article I posted.

Welcome to M&G
It can be sad, heated, happy, melancholy. Get ready to hear Butter & Daz or at least until one of the two or both have been kicked to the curb.
Happy postings and glad to have you here.

Did you guys go on a mission to spot Mickis? Did you see him eating his favourite cake? So many questions!
eff no, i didn’t go. i met that guy in september. no need to stalk the poor kid.
by walkinvisible on Mar 18, 2010 4:30 PM PDT up reply actions
Update: No Mickis, but there were two types of cake. One was chocolaty and the other was tiramisu.
And I did find a chair. Plain wood one called Birtil. Solid Pine.

so you didn’t have the prinsesstårta in honour of his birthday ???? for shame !!! i like the ruse of the chair-buying, though… very slick. :P xxxx

Oh, it wasn’t a ruse. I did actually need a chair. It has a distinct lack of wood smell, though.
I just had mac & cheese. It was on sale – a plate for 1.99. It was delicious.

Thanks everyone!
I’m going to have to do a better job at keeping up with the comments here! Thanks for the welcomes everyone and it was great to learn a bit about you all. I look forward to extensive conversations that are melancholy, sad, happy, and heated—perhaps all at the same time.
Congrats on taking the reigns, Hayley. I hope you can keep up the “surliness meter” while still running the show over here. I can’t wait to see where he ends up if we miss the playoffs. Maybe a “double facepalm”?
Welcome Hayley!
I’ve been very busy over the past two weeks and haven’t been able to spend as much time on M&G as I would like. So excuse me for being late and last in welcoming you. I really enjoy this community and would love to see it grow. Being a Flames fan in Florida, M&G has helped me bridge the gap between my fanship and lack of residence in Calgary. Good luck and I look forward to your management of M&G!
"Where do you go from here, Dion?" "I go to Toronto."
