Cgy/Van Post Game - The "No-See-Em" Report

H2H Ice

Faceoffs

I have nothing to add, nothing to report, no analysis to give.  Seriously.  I got home late tonight, planned on fast forwarding the first 10 minutes or so to get an idea which way the game would go, and, well, you know the rest.  I decided to fast forward the entire game and didn't see any reason to watch on normal speed.  Other than to confirm that Robyn Regehr only scores in games I didn't see and am glad I missed.

So, we'll try again after tomorrow night's game.  It's a pretty important game.  And there isn't anyone on God's green earth that knows which Calgary Flames team will show up.  In the meantime, here's another thread to vent.

i think this is one of my favorite game summaries of all time.
unless we’re including the haiku game summaries, and then this might only be top eight.

first was a bloodbath
kippy got the mercy pull
gio smashed burrows

I did enjoy Gio smashing Alexandria

My favorite was the “Total Collapse” summary. That was against the Sharks, just in case anyone blocked it out. Made for a good laugh (even if it was just to keep from crying).

Return of the haiku! At least there’s one thing to be excited about. I say every post-game from now through the end of the season, whenever that is, should be in haiku form:

The worst first ever?
Do they want a post-season?
It’s sure hard to tell.

awesome… it’s something to be happy about, anyways…. :)

Too bad Glencross isn’t just a wee bit better at shooting, because otherwise he might’ve singlehandedly tied up the game on short-handed goals.

I started following the Flames hoping my main team ( Red Wings) would beat the Flames for the last spot . But after following your blog and seeing how great of fans you all are and the real pain you all feel over a lack of being in the playoffs

I hope we both make it and Nashville is out not that i think both of our teams stand much of a chance of Lord Stanley’s Cup . It still means alot just to shine for a bit in the hunt .

Show me the CUP

Thanks! It’s nice to bond with fans of the enemy every now and again. After all, we’re all people (aside from Vancouver fans).

Also Oilers fans. They’re like a society of Creatures from the Black Lagoon.

only worse fans are boston fans (patriots, sox)

by Rod Blogojevich on Mar 15, 2010 5:56 AM PDT via mobile up reply actions

As someone who lives in Boston (but isn’t from Boston), you have no idea how right you are. Oh, and Yankees fans aren’t exactly pleasant either, but as a Diamondbacks fan I can just wiggle the ’01 World Series over their head any time they annoy me.

In the 98.5 minutes since becoming a Flame, Toskala has not been scored on. At least he’s trying.

Wow. How did I forget about those? Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is that he is better then McBackUp.

Yeah he probably bought himself another couple starts with the good play vs vancouver

by Rod Blogojevich on Mar 15, 2010 6:41 AM PDT via mobile up reply actions

or another couple saves…..

just sayin’.

by walkinvisible on Mar 15, 2010 9:21 AM PDT up reply actions

The next 4 games will decide how much Toskala is going to play. Until there is a clear sense of what this team is going to do, you ride Kipper to (hopefully) a playoff berth and take the first round Chicago or San Jose series.

Hindsight is 20-20 and all that, and somebody might have mentioned this in the game thread (which I haven’t read), but I would have started Vesa against Vancouver. We ain’t gonna catch the Canucks for top spot, but we do have to beat Detroit. Would starting Vesa have sent a bad message to the team, that it was OK to tank against the Canucks? We will never know, and trying to figure out the logic of a Sutter is a lost cause. Anyhoo, at least Kipper has a rep for having good bounce-back games…lets hope he proves it tonight.

by rich snake on Mar 15, 2010 11:30 AM PDT up reply actions

If Kipper had played the entire game last night, I would be in favour of this. Luckily he only played 20 minutes, so it’s not as much of a concern.

I expect an all out brawl tonight the exact game the Wings don’t like to play.

Bring it on Detroit.

I have a man crush on Rene Bourque.

by CofRed on Mar 15, 2010 10:24 AM PDT reply actions

That’ll go well. We brawl, they turtle, the refs hand them the game on a silver platter.

As far as last night goes, I avoid games against the Canucks entirely, so have nothing to add. We had won four in a row, we lost, we simply have to get right back at it and win tonight.

by Resolute on Mar 15, 2010 11:02 AM PDT up reply actions

Don’t the refs do that for Detroit anyway?

by Avalain on Mar 15, 2010 11:10 AM PDT up reply actions

What I meant by brawl was set the physical tone because Detroit can’t that’s not their style.

Also I think we’ll have the same crew from last night so this could either go our way or their way which like Avalain said they blow Detroit anyways.

I have a man crush on Rene Bourque.
