Ryan Howse Continues His Hot Season
With 5 goals in his last 2 games, Howse now has 46 on the season, good for 3rd in the league behind Jordan Eberle and Kyle Beach - both of whom are older, former first round draft picks.

tim erixons statline is 44gp 7g-6a-13p, -3, 42pim, 17:50 toi/gp, 55 shots.
he is ranked fourth in toi/gp amongst d-men on his team, the hyped adam larsson is 5th with 17:38 per game.
in conclusion: not too bad for a kid just turned 19
Good stuff. Looks like his goal total is mostly SH% thought.
I think he’ll be in Sweden next year too.
Which (if any) CHL team owns his import rights? Not altogether sure it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have him play a year in the CHL since I imagine he isn’t getting a lot of special team play what with Rundblad, Larsson and more experienced players on his club. Then again the SEL is a men’s league so… I dunno.
Worried about the lack of Russian talent in the Flames system

A low round (actually, anything sub first) is really a risk not worth taking. They’d rather stay home for 5 times the money.
yeaup. even the first rounders sometime.
nikita filatov is a perfect example. he’ll never cut it in the NHL.
taratukhin looks pretty good….
(russians are no longer a safe bet).

Meh, I’m a proponent of picking the BPA regardless of nationality. If it’s a Russian then it’s a Russian.
a lot of russians prefer to stay in russia nowadays (read: radulov, taratukhin) so it’s a bit more of a gamble.

I get that but at the same time since other folk are passing on them because of that it means that your likely getting a better player then you otherwise would in that slot. bigger risk, bigger reward.
And there are always folk like Kabanov & Galiev who come over to play in the CHL I’d say guys like that are about as safe as any other guy in Major junior.
