From a Sens' fan

I would like to have the pulse of the Calgary's truest. If the Ottawa Senators was to propose a trade to get David Moss, what would be an adequate trade in your eyes. Please keep your thoughts to logical responses. This is what you would propose to get something for Moss. What would you like and what you can get are two separate things.
I will propose some players to vote for. Please respond in the comments section. I would also like to have your opinions of Moss himself and why it seems to not be on your roster.

no option acceptable

There is no reason to trade Moss and picks. Trading Moss would be for picks and prospects, but as a guy with another year to run on his contract, there are others who would move first. What would you give us for the expiring contract of Glencross ?

Je cromprends

I really do. What we would be looking for is sort of the Latendresse-Pouliot trade, not Ribiero-Niinima. Something good for both. Trading players that would have a chance for making an impact for a second time. Ideally, i think a Lee for Moss trade would be low-risk, high reward. Discuss.

P.s. I personnally think that Lee could be good given the opportunity to make an impact. Let’s say Lee is your 5-6 D next year and if he develops well then he could be a cheap replacement for Sarich the year after.

He’s cheap, young and is reliable possession wise. Basically, his contract and skill set go under the category “Flames should want to acquire”.

As far as return, we sure have a lot of 5/6 guys around the ‘Dome and in Abby and our stock of bottom 6 forwards doesn’t need to be added to. Moss would make sense as a deal sweetener, nothing more.

Je suis d'accord

As a deal sweetner, you would probably get more out of Moss (i say this in full ignorance). But as himself, what, if anything, from the Senators would you expect. I can see us trying Moss on our second or third line.

If it was a straight up trade, I would like Foligno back.

Question?

Why has he been scratched instead of Glencross?

by Bikini Cowboy on Dec 7, 2010 12:01 PM PST reply actions

Because our coach is an idiot? Yeah, that’s it.

Neither should’ve been scratched, really. They’re two of the Flames’ better third liners.

Also, to answer your question: Foligno would be nice. Or if for picks, a 2nd and 3rd. I know he wouldn’t get that in a trade, but that’s what I’d want to see.

Not sure if you’re serious about some of those options, the 1st would be coming from you guys in any deal for Iginla.

The fact that you guys waived Lee and noone picked him up shows that he isn’t worth much.

Moss is a reliable, two way forward with a value contract. I think a lot of teams will have interest in him come deadline. Like PrairieStew noted, Moss however has a year left on his deal, making Glencross, a guy with about the same skill set more likely to be expendable.

But we’ll give you both of them for Lee & your 1st.

Were any of these serious?

All options are hilariously balanced in the Sens favour.

désolé

I would like to apoligize. I did not want to insult any Flames fans by suggesting loopsided trades. Believe me i know all about them after the summer of Spezza and the Summer of Heater Hater.
My original tought was to find for a "quid pro quod" trade. David Moss has been sratched for half the games and maybe we could redeem him as the Flames could redeem Brian Lee. Yes he was waived, but without any cap space, the Flames could not exactly claim him. My mistake was to think DMoss was benched for a reason.
I still think a Lee for Moss trade could be a benefit for both teams. I know that if Lee turns it around in another team, that team will be very happy. I would imagine that he is about at 50/50 right now, not bad odds. At least better then the odds we had on Cheechoo.

By the by, the Spezza and Alfredsson trade suggestion are jokes. We will not be trading these players. the only reason we spoke about Spezza during the summer was because of the Ottawa Sun trying to make some headlines.
Quick question: How is the coverage from the Calgary Sun? Are they as stupid and inflammatory? Are they suggesting Iginla & Kipper to be traded?

by Bikini Cowboy on Dec 10, 2010 5:27 AM PST reply actions

If they could have found a decent trade partner

Spezza was gone. However, I do agree the Ottawa Sun is a waste of paper (living here and seeing them handing it out for free on the Transitway every morning is their own admission of that).

I wouldn’t use the Calgary Sun as kindling for a fire.

As dotfras says, Moss has the flu, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Darryl moved him. It will be interesting to see who sits when he gets healthy.

La raison

The reason they hand out papers is to fluff their readers numbers in those weeks. Then, they use those numbers to say they have that many readers (and not subscribers) to then charge higher advertising dollards.
